gaskets, etc.

Cooling Systems: diagnose, repair, & replace fan clutches, radiators, oil coolers, egr coolers, etc.

Electrical Systems: Negative grounded & multiplexed systems; troubleshoot with multimeter &/or
laptop for any electrical malfunction (i.e. amber check engine light on) & research schematics

Air Conditioning: R134a; inspect, diagnose, repair, recover, vacuum, leak check, & charge

Transmissions: Allison, Eaton, Clark, Mack, Meritor, Rockwell, Muncie, Fuller, Spicer (TTC);
troubleshoot, service, repair, & replace

Transfer Cases: Rockwell & Dana; inspect, troubleshoot, service, repair, & replace

Clutches: Eaton, Fuller, Spicer, Solo, Rockford; inspect, adjust, troubleshoot, & replace

Differentials: Eaton, Spicer, Dana, Rockwell, Meritor; inspect, repair, & replace (entire axle)

Drivelines: Spicer, Rockwell, Meritor; inspect, repair, & replace including u-joints & carrier bearings

Suspension: Air, spring, & solid mount suspension systems; inspect, troubleshoot, repair, & replace to
include but not limited to pulling trunions, leaf springs, air bags, kingpins, & torque rods

Steering: Sheppard & TRW/Ross (both single & dual); diagnose either in a bay or on a VIS machine
then, repair all steering components including steer assist rebuilds & power steering pump replacements

Anti-Lock Brake Systems: Bendix & Meritor; use laptop to diagnose & troubleshoot then repair; also
complete install of abs system on older 5 tons

Central Tire Inflation Systems: Spicer; troubleshoot, repair, replace, & complete install of system

Air & Hydraulic Brake Systems: Bendix & Meritor; use laptop to diagnose & troubleshoot; repair &
replace parts as needed to include pads, drums, s-cams, calipers, brake chambers, & diaphragms

Seals: replace any seals/gaskets leaking to include front main seals, wheel seals, rear main seals, &
input seals

Body: inspect, troubleshoot, repair, fabricate, & replace to include but not limited to doors & hood
catches

Fifth Wheels: mostly Holland; inspect, service, repair, & rebuild

Operational Testing: test drove or tested repairs completed on all equipment

Hydraulics Systems: inspect, troubleshoot, repair, service & replace to include but not limited to boom
wiper seals, winches, winch cables, & PTOs

Preventative Maintenance: complete thorough inspections, notify customers of repairs needed, write
parts estimates, complete quick lube, ‘A’ wet, & ‘B’ wet pm’s to include greasing, changing all filters, &
changing fluids

D.O.T.: complete thorough inspections to ensure compliance to D.O.T. regulations, notify customer of all
deadline repairs needed, install fire extinguishers/emergency triangle kits in cabs 


ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Construction Mechanic: Completed quarterly, semi-annually, & annually preventative maintenance
on all equipment; Repaired & maintained various construction equipment, troop carrier vehicles, & small
engine equipment; Recorded all repairs done to equipment; Ordered parts required for repairs; On-call for
any road-side repairs during any mission; Responsible for 4 other mechanics during maintenance cycles;
Assisted with turn-over during home port & during deployments; Maintained 99% availability of equipment
during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Preventive Maintenance Clerk: Responsible for maintaining records for all vehicles maintenance
completed; Typed up equipment repair orders for equipment before & after repairs were completed; Kept
track of the maintenance cycle & informed mechanics on shop floor for repairs needed. 

Direct Turn-Over Clerk: Responsible for ordering, tracking, & receiving parts needed to complete
maintenance on equipment; Storing & organizing all parts received; Turning in all roll-back parts to
receive money back or credit; Writing up purchase orders for parts bought off base & getting parts
requested; Maintaining records of parts ordered per vehicle; Turning over parts to mechanics for
maintenance cycle; Researched & ordered parts as needed. 

Paint Shop Custodian: Operated paint & body shop by myself; Sanded & prepped all equipment to be
painted; Repaired all damaged body parts; Painted all equipment that needed paint jobs; Organized,
ordered, & maintained excess paint & other hazardous materials needed for paint booth; Any & all
painting jobs needed by the battalion including making signs to painting murals.

Hazmat Supervisor: Responsible for ordering, storing, maintaining, & disposing of all hazardous
material used by the battalion; Maintained Material Safety Data sheets for all hazardous material used;
Maintained inventory of all hazardous materials; Emergency response clean-up to all hazardous material
spills. 

Technical Librarian: Responsible for maintaining, inventorying, & checking out all technical & parts
manuals; Researched any parts hard to find or not manufactured any more; Researched internet &
manuals for troubleshooting help, component numbers, or wiring schematics.

Tool Room Custodian: Responsible for keeping up with all tools checked out by mechanics; Did
routine maintenance on tools in tool room; Ordered any tools broken or needed by mechanics. 

Safety Supervisor: Responsible for all safety lectures & violations; Filed all violations as they occur;
Supervised mechanics on floor to make sure safe practices were being used during operations. 

Driver: Transporting 5 ton trucks to & from Cummins, DivCon, or shipyard.

Retrograde: Upload/download all tractor/trailers that bring/take equipment; Repair any malfunctions that
hinder upload/download before shipping; Inspect & document all equipment in retrograde lot.

Miscellaneous: Any tasks that help complete the mission (i.e. dug trenches for communication wires, etc.)
